I Finally Listened to My Intuition (and you should too)

Sometimes, you know more about your child than the expert does. 

It took me years to learn this, but I’m hoping you can learn from my mistakes. 

You see, when my son was first diagnosed with ADHD, he was only four years old. The first course of treatment that our ADHD specialist pediatrician suggested was medication. He started my son on 5 mg, then upped it to 10, then 15, and finally 20. As the doses increased, though, so did the side effects. 

But all the specialist wanted to do to combat these side effects was add more medicine. 

My son was only 5 years old, and this doctor wanted him on 3 strong medications! 

Now, I’m not against medication in all situations, but this regimen just didn’t feel right to me.

My mommy gut was telling me this wasn’t the answer, but at first I didn’t listen. Instead, I trusted the experts. 

We went from doctor to doctor, hoping someone would suggest something else, but they all said the same thing: more meds! 

Finally, I stopped listening to them and started listening to my intuition. 

We met a nutrition specialist and naturopath who opened our eyes to a different approach. As we talked, my intuition told me this was the right path for us. 

We were going to get help for my son, but it wasn’t going to be from multiple medications! 

I don’t know what led you here, but my guess is, your intuition might be telling you similar things that mine was.

Maybe your intuition is telling you to try something else before you go down the road of strong medications. Or maybe it’s telling you – like mine was telling me – that what you’re currently doing isn’t working and you need to try something else. 

Don’t make the same mistakes I did. If your gut is telling you to try something else, listen to it! 

You have to remember that experts are only experts in their field; they don’t know everything about your child. 

YOU are the expert on your child.
