Toxic Chemical in over 2000 Foods

by | Apr 24, 2023 | ADHD Symptoms, Non-toxic living

Did you know there’s a chemical that is linked to cancer and various behavior issues in children that is used in over 2,000 food products in the United States!

2,000! 😡😡😡

THIS IS NOT OKAY!

The FDA exists to keep our food safe, and it’s NOT doing its job!

Now is our chance to help them DO BETTER!

They are currently reviewing their policies on Red No 3 from NOW until May 18 and are asking the public to weigh in.

Will you join me by signing this petition that EWG (the environmental working group) created

But please hurry!

We only have until May 18 to get our voices heard!

I’ve written about artificial colors before, but wanted to share about them again because this topic is SO IMPORTANT!

Here are 4 reasons to avoid artificial colors in food.

Top Reasons to Avoid Artificial Colors:

-Increases Hyperactivity

There are studies linking artificial colors with increased hyperactivity. In fact, one study even concluded that artificial colors were a “general public health concern” because of their effect on children. For children who already have a hard time managing hyperactivity, removing artificial colors can make a HUGE difference!

-Health Risks

Studies have linked artificial colors to cancer, asthma, hives, ADHD, and other health concerns.

Why are we continuing to allow these chemicals into our foods?

-No Nutritional Value

There is NO good reason to ingest artificial colors. They give us absolutely NO nutritional value but instead could potentially be linked to many deadly diseases.

-Banned in Other Countries

There’s a reason artificial colors are banned in other countries or require a warning label when used – because they are dangerous!

Let’s stop gambling on the health of our families, *hoping* artificial colors are safe. There are plenty of studies that show they’re NOT, so let’s stop consuming them, one product at a time!

In 2010, the European Union began requiring a warning label for foods that contain artificial colors.

That warning label reads, “May have adverse effects on activity and attention in children.”

They did this because of several studies that showed that artificial colors increase hyperactivity and negatively impact children with ADHD.

But, even with these studies, the FDA continues to allow these chemicals into our foods.

What I think it boils down to is this:

The European Union has chosen to restrict the usage of artificial coloring until they are proven SAFE.

The US, in contrast, has chosen to continue their usage until they are proven DANGEROUS.

This is NOT okay!

The way I look at it, parents today have two options:

They can do like the EU and avoid artificial colors until they know they are actually safe (which will probably never happen).

OR, they can do like the US and continue to allow artificial colors into their family’s foods and *hope* they aren’t hurting them in the long run.

I have chosen to side with the EU, and I hope you will too!

Wouldn’t you rather err on the side of caution?

Wouldn’t you rather avoid items that might (probably are) dangerous, even if some people aren’t fully convinced?

And remember, now is our chance to convince the FDA that something needs to change!

They are currently reviewing their policies on Red No 3 from NOW until May 18 and are asking the public to weigh in.
