What To Do When One Parent Doesn’t Support the Natural Approach to ADHD Treatment

by | Oct 19, 2021 | Mindset, Natural Solutions

Couple arguing about the best way to reduce ADHD symptoms in their child.

What do you do when you want to change your child’s diet, but your spouse or partner isn’t on board?

This is a common struggle that many of my clients face.  One person feels sure this is the direction they want to go, but the other just isn’t buying it.

Maybe they don’t really think diet can make that much of a difference. Or maybe they don’t want to spend the money…or take the time to make such a big change.

Regardless of their specific hang up, I have found in working with hundreds of clients that one of the best ways to convince the unconvinced is to share the research.

Science is far from silent on the topic of gut-brain connection! To help you begin the conversation with your spouse about the science behind our approach, my team and I put together a letter for you to share with your partner.  If you’d like a copy of this letter, simply reach out to me, and my team will get it sent over to you ASAP.

Let me ask you a question: what did you always imagine your family would look like?

When we are little, many of us grow up imagining our futures. We have this image in our head of what our family life might look like.

What is that picture for you?

My guess is, your current day-to-day reality isn’t exactly matching up to that picture. Otherwise, you probably wouldn’t be reading this.

I get it. My picture wasn’t matching up for a long time either.

At my lowest, there was even a time that I thought my picture-perfect family was impossible.

Maybe if I were different or maybe if my child were different, I remember thinking.

But then we changed the foods we ate, and that picture started becoming closer and closer to reality.  Of course, we still have our struggles like any family, but we are happy.  We have become that family I always imagined we could be. And I want that for you too!

I understand how hard it is when your partner isn’t on board, but trust me when I tell you that the hard conversations are worth it!  I would hate for you to be in the exact same position one year from now, or even worse, several years from now, when you can make changes today and see real results, sometimes in just 12 weeks.

In my experience, there is ONE thing that nearly always convinces a partner to jump onboard: real, lasting change!  When they start to see changes in your child that they didn’t even think were possible, they will quickly change their minds about this approach.  But in order for that to happen, you have to take the first step today.

P.S. Here are a few other research pieces I would suggest you look at with your partner:
